Article 1
This contract is destined to the exclusive use of the booking of stays in bed & breakfasts accepted by the local bureau of the "Fédération Nationale des Gîtes de France". 
On no account the responsibility of the "Fédération Nationale des Gîtes de France" would be committed in case of use of its contracts by third party or for non tourist ends.
The best welcome will be reserved to our hosts. The owner commits to assure the welcome of the vacationers personally with all the desirable attentions permitting to facilitate their stay and the knowledge of the region.

Article 2  - Length of the stay
The customer signs the present contract for a determined length. He will not be able to take advantage in any circumstance of an any right to stay in the place.

Article 3  -  Conclusion of the contract
The booking becomes efficient from the moment the owner receives from the customer a deposit of 25% of the amount of the total amount of the price of the stay with a minimum of one night by retained room and a copy of the contract signed before the date indicated on the contract.
The second copy of the contract is to be kept by the customer. The prices include all taxes.

Article 4  -  Annulment by the customer
All annulment must be notified by letter, fax or telegram addressed to the owner.

a) Annulment before the beginning of the stay : if the annulment intervenes more than 24 hours before the beginning of the stay, the remained deposit is kept by the owner.
If the annulment intervenes less than 24 hours before the beginning of the stay, the remained deposit is kept by the owner who reserves the right to ask for the balance of the price of the lodging.

b) If the customer doesn't appear or call before 7 p.m. the day foreseen for the beginning of the stay, the present contract becomes null and the owner can have his rooms booked again. The remained deposit is kept by the owner who reserves the right to ask for the balance of the price of the lodging.

c) In case of shortened stay, the corresponding price to the cost of the lodging remains fully acquired to the owner.
The non consumed supplementary services will be repaid.

Article 5  -  Annulment by the owner 
When, before the beginning of the stay, the owner annuls this stay, he must inform the customer by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt or by telegram. The customer, without prejudging some recourses in reparation of the possibly undergone damages, will immediately be repaid of the deposit. Besides he will receive an indemnity at least equal to the penalty that he would have supported if the annulment had intervened of his fact to this date.

Article 6  -  Arrival
The customer must present himself the day specified at the hours mentioned on the present contract. In case of belated or deferred arrival, the customer must warn the owner.

Article 7  -  Settlement of the balance 
The balance must be settled to the owner on arrival.
Drinks and other services which are not mentionned in the present contract will be paid to the owner at the end of the stay.

Article 8  -  "Taxe de séjour" 
The "taxe de séjour" (tax of stay) is a local tax that the customer must pay to the owner who reverts it then to public treasure.

Article 9  -  Use of the place
The customer should respect the restful character of the place and should make an use of it in conformity with its destination. He commits to return the rooms in good state.

Article 10  -  Capacity
The present contract is established for a precise number of people. If the number of customers exceeds this number, the owner is able to refuse the supplementary customers. This refusal cannot be considered on no account like a modification or a rupture of the contract on the initiative of the owner, so that in case of departure of a number of customers superior to those refused, no repayment can be considered.

Article 11  -  Animals
The present contract specifies if the customer can or cannot stay in company of a pet. In case of non respect of this clause by the customer, the owner can refuse the animals.

Article 12  - Litigations 
All relative complaint to the state of the place must be submitted to the local "Gîtes de France" bureau in the three days following the date of the beginning of the stay. All other relative complaint to a stay must be addressed by letter, as soon as possible, to the local "Gîtes de France" bureau, which is competent to give out a proposition in favor of an amicable agreement.
In case of obstinate disagreement, litigations can be submitted to the Quality Department of the "Fédération Nationale des Gîtes de France" that will endeavor to find an amicable agreement. These arrangements don't prejudge possible judicial actions instituted by the customer or the owner.


The French version of the present document has been adopted by the Board of Directors of the "Fédération Nationale des Gîtes de France" on February 1st, 1996.
